Welcome to the Wedding Planning & Budgets discussion area! Whether you have just said yes or already have a date in mind, this is a place to ask questions and share ideas without feeling you need to have everything organised.

Start with the decisions that shape the day

    • Your priorities: agree on the three things that matter most to you as a couple, such as the food, atmosphere or having everyone together.
    • Your guest list: draft a realistic number before comparing venues. Separate essential invitations from people you would like to include if space and budget allow.
    • Your spending limit: list what you can comfortably spend and any contributions already confirmed. Leave room for costs you have not yet identified.
    • Your date and location: decide how flexible you can be before enquiring with venues and suppliers.

    Keep one simple planning list

Track each item, estimated cost, confirmed quote, deposit, remaining balance and payment date. Include smaller items such as alterations, delivery, guest transport and meals for suppliers where required. Ask what is included before comparing two prices.

You do not need to book everything at once. Work out which decisions depend on your venue and date, then tackle the next useful step.

    Tell us about your plans

Where in Australia are you getting married, roughly how many guests are you considering, and what is your biggest planning question? Share only the details you are comfortable making public.

If you have already planned your wedding, what helped you stay organised, and what would you do differently?
