Lots of couples add little science fiction touches to their weddings, maybe a Doctor Who save-the-date card or a Star Trek quote during the vows. But some couples want to use their wedding to celebrate all the myriad ways science fiction has touched their lives, including this pair, who recently threw a wedding party that was heavy on both tradition and Firefly. https://gizmodo/geeky-save-the-date-card...iv-5913581 Katie and Kellan got togethe stanley cup r thanks to Dragon*Con, so it only fitting that their nuptials were chalk full of fannish stanley cup moments. A stanley romania s Firefly tributes, the groomsmen all wore Jayne Cobb hats while the bridesmaids carried Kaylee parasols, and each table was named after a planet in the Serenity Verse. The groom sported Superman on his shoes and on his ring, which bears the Superman sigil, and the invitations assured guests Don ;t Panic. And then there were the vows. Katie explains: I promised to help support him through his World of Warcraft dungeons, and he promised to love me through all the evil uprisings that happens in sci-fi. It looks like everyone had fun with the mishmash of fandoms, and despite the science fiction accessories and a first dance to Rammstein, it seems fairly traditional. Daylight Savings starts Sunday night, forcing America clocks an hour into the future. Not only is this the lamest form of time travel ever invented, medical studies have suggested that being forced to get up an hour earlier for work is bad for your heart鈥攍ike maybe kill you bad. The Monday and Tuesday after moving the clocks ahead one hour in March is associated with a 10 percent increase in the risk of having a heart attack, UAB Associate Pr stanley us ofessor Martin Young, Ph.D., told Science Daily. The opposite is true when falling back in October. This risk decreases by about 10 percent. Researchers have yet to pinpoint a reason for this phenomenon but have posited theories that three factors could contribute. First, sleep deprivation, which can alter the body inflammatory response process and contribute to a heart attack. Night owls have a tougher time adjusting to the earlier timing than morning people and are therefore at an increased risk to do so. Second, the jump forward screws up the body circadian rhythm, reducing its ability t stanley fr o handle stress and shocks. As Dr. Young explains, When time moves forward, cell clocks are anticipating another hour to stanley mug sleep that they won ;t get, and the negative impact of the stress worsens; it has a much more detrimental effect on the body. Third, the jump forward also screws up the body immune response timing, which temporarily weakens the immune system. Daylight S
