A conservative rally being held in Philadelphia on Saturday is drawing counter-protesters amid fears that more extreme right-wing groups such as the Proud Boys could make an appearance. It is a high-risk, high-return en stanley fr deavor: Pennsylvania represents a costly gambit, one that siphons resources from must-win states such as Ohio and Florida, but a win here would enable McCain to lose a few other states that George W. Bush carried and still capture the White House. So with 23 days until Election Day, the state finds itself at the epicenter of the presidential campaign, with both sides spending precious time and money trying to energize their respective bases and drive up their opponentsrsquo; negatives. Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee distanced himself Tuesday from the case of an Arkansas man who killed a woman after being paroled for rape when Huckabee was the state s governor.Huckabee had once spoken in favor of releasing the man but told reporters the decision to do so was made by parole board members appointed by his Democratic predecessors, Jim Guy Tucker and Bill Clinton.Huckabee said he could not remember all the details of a meeting he had with parole board members during which the case of Wayne DuMond came up. He died of cancer in prison in 2005. The truth is that my only action in this case was that I denied a commutation, Huckabee said.
