Bright minds at the West Health Institute in San Diego have developed a technology that allows patients in need of physical therapy to perform necessary exercises away from their doctors expert guidance through use of a Microsoft Kinect. The technology, called the Reflexion Rehabilitation Measurement Tool RMT , utilizes a Windows 7 personal computer and the Microsoft Kinect for Windows motion came stanley cup ra device to keep patients actively and consistently engaged in physical therapy throughout their daily lives. RMT was built and then began testing at the Naval Medical Center of San Diego, where it was used to rehabilitate patients after a musculoskeletal surgery. The program, once prescribed to the patient, gives interactive feedback and presents the participant with educational materials, that will aide the doctor in keeping his or her patient in consistent prescribed therapy. Spencer Hutchins, the co-inventor and Reflexion Project lead, explained why he thought up the RMT, The biggest problem with physical therapy is patients not do stanley kaffeebecher ing enough of it or not doing it properly. We are building a tool to help physical therapists measure progress in a fun way that could potentially help patients heal faster. An added benefit of using the RMT stanley cup is its potential to lower the cost of healthcare without compromising the quality of service. It more and more evident that a lot of potential lies in the Kinect and RMT is just one of the many incredibly intuitive and benefi Iwmj Rumor: No More Free iPhone Replacements For You
Tonight at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, Gizmodo is co-hosting First Comes The Dream. The event will bring together scientists like the host of Cosmos, Neil deGrasse Tyson, astro stanley cup nauts such as NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, software architects like Foursquare 8216 Dennis Crowley, and the writers, designers and artists who inspire them. The program is designed to showcase how imagination fuels scientific and technological change: on the inside of the Planetarium we ;ll have a visual tour of the new worlds recently discovered by astronomers; on the outside, we ;ll see images of new solar systems from imaginations of the special-effects artists at Framestore. We ;re asking the guests 鈥?both the scientists and the dreamers 鈥?to contribute to the series we started here earlier this month, identifying the image or scene that first inspired them. What was it we ;re asking. Mine was Isaac Asimov Foundation trilogy. Gizmodo is co-hosting the event because the site mission is to anticipate the future. But beyond extrapolation, there a role for imagination; and not just the dark scenarios of environmental doommongers but a boundless future. In short, we need to recapture some of the naivete of the 19th century or the early space age 鈥?or our own teenage fantasies. Even a call for naivete stanley cup seems itself naive in a cynical climate. This might not be the time. But we ;re calling a turn here 鈥?stanley vattenflaska for
